The Power of Prosumer Living, Financial Freedom & Happy Marriage: My Journey in the USA
admin · February 3, 2025
When I moved to the USA in 2001, I had no connections, no financial stability, and faced major setbacks—losing my business, job, and first marriage by 2003. However, through delayed gratification, financial discipline, and prosumer power, I was able to rebuild my life and create a strong foundation for my family . Inspite of no one ; I found wife , who trusted me. She is my life line now and reason for success. Not only I found wife who is Indian, but she also became half partner and stood with me in any and every move. We have two beautiful kids and 5 homes and 3 cars . How all this in 20 years ??
Key Lessons from My Journey
1. Prosumer Power: Produce & Consume Smartly
• We generate solar power for our home and use it to charge our two Tesla cars, saving thousands in electricity costs.
• My Tesla Model S includes free lifetime charging and media, saving $300/month ($36,000 over 10 years), proving that smart luxury choices can also be financially beneficial.
2. Real Estate Over Volatile Investments
• I have witnessed three major recessions (2002, 2008, 2019) and saw many lose their wealth in 401Ks, stocks, and crypto. Real estate provided stability and long-term growth.
• From renting in 2004 to owning multiple properties today, I have focused on buying wisely and keeping liabilities low.
3. Happy Marriage: The 3 Cs—Communication, Commitment, & Compromise
• Marriage is not just about love; it requires mentorship and guidance, which many couples lack. In the USA (and elsewhere), newlyweds face pressure to earn, buy a home, and raise kids—all while managing medical expenses. If one spouse loses a job or a medical emergency arises, it creates financial and emotional stress, often leading to separation.
• I have learned that a successful marriage thrives on the 3 Cs:
• Communication: Open and honest discussions prevent misunderstandings.
• Commitment: Staying dedicated to each other through ups and downs.
• Compromise: Meeting halfway rather than insisting on being right.
4. Life Insurance: A Must for Financial Security
• Many families struggle due to unexpected financial burdens. I highly recommend life insurance with medical benefits and cash growth policies, as they provide:
• Tax-free cash value growth
• 100% no-loss guarantee
• Financial security for loved ones
• In India, I found Max Life Insurance useful, while in the USA, I have an AIG IUL (Indexed Universal Life) policy for my family.
5. The Importance of Relationships Over Material Things
• I used to focus only on personal success, but I’ve realized that nurturing relationships matters more.
• Checking in on friends, following up, and staying connected is more valuable than always talking about “me, me, me.” I still work on this, but I’ve learned that relationships bring true wealth.
